Engineer Rashid, also known as Sheikh Abdul Rashid, is being held at Delhi's Tihar Jail in relation to a terror funding case from 2017. India's judicial system is nervous about the new criminal rules that will take effect from 1st July, replacing the decades-old Indian Penal Code, Indian Evidence Act, and Code of Criminal Procedure. The Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam have replaced the IPC (1860) and the Evidence Act (1872), which were enacted by the British government, respectively. The Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita has replaced the 1973 Code of Criminal Procedure.
