Not even a month has properly passed, since the horrific incident of rape and murder case of Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, that another gruesome act of rape has come to light. The incident took place near one of busiest junctions, Agar Naka area in the city of Ujjain, in broad daylight.
As per the reports by the police, the incident took place on 5th of September, where the victim, who is a scrap collector in the city was force fed liquor by the accused, named Lokesh, after which he sexually assaulted her in public. What is even more appalling is that rather than helping the lady or catching the assaulter, some people were busy making video of the incident and posting it on the internet.
As per the sources from the police, the accused, who promised to marry the victim, after the incident, he fled from the spot. Later, when the effect of the alcohol wore off, the victim reached the police station and filed a complaint against Lokesh, leading to his arrest.
On 7th September, the MP police, arrested one of the persons accused of recording the video while the woman was being raped. The accused of making the video is recognised as Mohammed Salim from Nagda.
Other than the accused mentioned, the police have zeroed in 3-4 suspects accused of videographing the incident and making public the identity of the rape victim on the social media. As per the police, teams are deployed to arrest these wrongdoers and to further investigate if the incident was pre planned.
Charges Placed-
The incident has sparked a fresh war of allegations amongst the ruling party BJP and the party in opposition Congress as well.
However, the the present incident as well the matter of Kolkata rape and murder case, including those which came to light in last few days involving the SP leader in Uttar Pradesh and another case involving the rape of an adivasi woman in Ujjain, bring to light the current scenario of lack of safety for women, as now the passersby are not lending a helping hand but making video of the incident instead. The entire incident is blood curdling to say the least.
