Arvind Kejriwal Resignation From The Post Of CM In Delhi

Following his detention in relation to purported anomalies in Delhi Liquor Policy Case that also involves Manish Sisodia, his former deputy chief minister, Kejriwal tendered his resignation. What was the Delhi Liquor Policy Case?

Arvind Kejriwal Resignation

  • To select Arvind Kejriwal as the new Chief Minister of Delhi, AAP MLAs convene at his home. 
  • At 4:30 p.m., Kejriwal was scheduled to see Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena and submit his resignation.
  • Kejriwal met for hours on Monday with members of the AAP's political affairs committee and other top leaders. Additionally, he had private discussions with Rajya Sabha member Raghav Chadha and Manish Sisodia.
  • According to sources, Kailash Gehlot and Atishi are the two candidates shortlisted for the position of chief minister. Manish Sisodia, the former deputy chief minister, has endorsed Atishi.
  • Delhi's political unrest comes in front of the great Assembly elections that are almost set for the month of February of the following year. In addition to the Maharashtra elections, CM Kejriwal has however insisted that the election might take place in the month of November.
  • Following the allegations of corruption and the apprehension of high-ranking AAP officials, the resignation of the chief AAP is perceived as an effort to recover the moral superiority.

  • Kejriwal was granted bail by the Supreme Court in the CBI's excise policy case, and he was released from Delhi's Tihar Jail on Friday. In the ED case, he had previously been granted provisional bail.
